Openness in Education

Openness in Education

Here is my response to Activity 3: Representing open education. I wanted to create some sort of interactive content but I wasn’t sure what. I thought some sort of decision tree would be good so I sketched out quite a few options on paper but I kept finding it didn’t make sense. In the end I compared 5 areas of open vs. closed material and used the Juxtaposition tool in h5p to present this.

Drag the slider from right to left to reveal the open response to the proprietary model.

  1. Great visulisation, Stephen!

I jsut wonder how sustainable the open model is. Put crudely, how long can this be delivered for free?

  2. Very nice, I’d like to try something like this in one of my own presentations, it is great we get to share our knowledge /expertise like this. Thank you again, Stephen.

  3. Hi Stephen – thanks for this great visualisation. I love the slider. I agree with Wayne and wonder how long this can still be sustained. It is wonderful, but with austerity measures in place and now fears of sliding into a economic recession due to the pandemic looming, the funding for it might be needed somewhere else. I hope not at all or too soon. Cheers, Yvonne
